Our council need some examination on their approach including cost accumulated with road work upgrades locally on the Gold coast.
$107 million was provided in the 2010-11 to 2013-14 Queensland Transport and Roads Investment Program as well as funding contributions from Gold Coast City Council and TransLink.
For some-time now it is noticeable that quality of workmanship on our local road upgrades including maintenance are somewhat not of standards we are accustomed too.
All too often are our local main roads are showing ware and tear, with potholes appearing for long periods without maintenance done on surfers paradise blvd etc.
The gold coast highway between Aubrey St, Surfers Paradise and Australia Av, Broadbeach mere observation show these contractors seem to be approaching this work with patches in parts the long more costly approach, rather than cutting sections, gridding and repouring evenly
Areas that have had work are not even, a constant ware on vehicle shocks, drainage centred on the highway through this area that has recently been relayed have been raised.
Why would you raise the drains on a multi lane highway, when these are located on one lane edging another?
This is dangerous in good or bad weather for road safety, as drivers maybe distracted by the sudden shift of the lane in transit, in turn resulting in accidents or even a fatality.
This project looks somewhat of one complete screw-up along this stretch with the contractors responsible to be re- assessed, before such upgrades have a budget blow-out contributed too with a redo.
The council are obviously not supervising these projects close enough, showing lack in good council business management of public funding for local road maintenance.
